Help my candle is making popping sounds!

Wood wick candles are known to create a popping, crackling sound. This is perfectly normal & creates a bit of an ambience. Enjoy!

My candle is tunnelling down the centre:

The first burn in particular is critical! Candles have a memory pool so the first time you light it, make sure to let it burn for at least two to 3 hours. This will allow the wax to melt evenly all the way out to the edges of the container. This will ensure that when your wax cools, the surface of the candle will remain even. This is very important because wax has a memory which means it will only melt through its last cooling point. A fix for tunnelling is simply done by removing some of the surrounding wax to help the candle melt fully to its edges.

My candle flame is too large:

We want you to get lit - safely of course. You must trim the wick of your candle to 1/4 inch prior to each burn. A flame that is too high has a couple of drawbacks. First, it’s not aesthetically pleasing, and you may be losing precious burn time. But most importantly it may become a fire hazard and must be extinguished immediately. So please remember to trim your wick and get lit responsibly.

My candle is smoking:

Have you placed your candle near a draft? If your candle is smoking, a simple fix is to move your candle away from any fans, open windows or doors, air conditioners, and vents. This will ensure a smooth burn and limit smoking. Also, remember to trim your candle wick 1/4 inch prior to each burn.

Why has my candle wax turn brown after burning?

Multiple factors can contribute to a candle changing colour, in this case it is likely due to the wood wick. Wooden wicks burn hotter than a cotton wick and so this may discolour the wax. This does not affect the performance of the candle and is completely normal.

Why do you use Parasoy?

We use a combination of vegetable and mineral oil for our candles. While mineral oil is a type of paraffin, the paraffin we use is non-toxic and food-grade. Our choice of wax is based on several factors. Firstly, we've found it difficult to source ethically produced soy locally at a reasonable cost. Secondly, we prioritize reusing waste materials in our products whenever possible. Thirdly, although we wish fossil fuels could be phased out, we recognize that they will continue to be used for the foreseeable future. Therefore, we aim to make the most of fossil fuel waste by repurposing it.

Our approach is driven by what we consider to be the best option currently available to us, rather than following generic environmental rhetoric. We are committed to minimizing the environmental impact of our products, taking into account both the present and potential future consequences of our actions.

We refuse to compromise on our values by purchasing cheap soy wax from questionable sources, or by importing soy from far-flung locations, which would increase air and sea miles. Our aim is to avoid contributing to deforestation, loss of habitat, and the destruction of livelihoods. Rather than using an original source product with ethical concerns, we prefer to use a byproduct of paraffin wax mixed with soy.

We believe that anyone who is passionate about their products should similarly prioritize responsible sourcing and environmental impact.
